The Focus on Undernutrition program provides training to care home staff on the identification, monitoring and treatment of undernutrition among the elderly people in care homes.
The training focuses on the use of a nutritional screening tool (MUST) and food first approach for treatment of malnutrition.
The course is to raise awareness of malnutrition and hydration among elderly people and how they can prevent themselves from becoming malnourished.
This course is mainly in house and is arranged through care home managers in the local area.
The course training is carried out in care homes (in house training) and care home managers work with Focus on Undernutrition Support workers to arrange suitable dates and times for the workshop.
This course is not open to the public, but for more information please contact Joanna Bielby – Health Improvement Specialist (Nutrition and Obesity) on 01642 728060.
