Sometimes it can be hard to focus on our life priorities, especially in the spur of the moment. We can see short term relief or excitement, so we ignore or push back our long-term goals.
But it’s important to reflect on what our life goals and priorities are, and hold ourselves accountable for achieving them.
Spend some time making a list of your top 10 goals, and when you’re going to achieve them (set a time limit). Then put them in order of priority.
Some goals and priorities will be more general, so it’s important to try and think of specific ways you could meet the goal. For example, if your goal is ‘keep my children safe’, you could aim to ‘make sure they arrive at school on time’. You can then set a time to this goal – ‘every day at 8:45’.
Once you have your list, keep it somewhere safe and visible. If it’s a daily goal, you could save it on your phone. Or you could write them all down and put them on the fridge or your bedside table.
The aim here is to move away from short term relief and focus instead on what we really want to achieve in life.
